Maintenance Guide - Tips for this Summer
Maintaining your home is important to ensure a healthy indoor environment. The following are some recommendations for keeping your home as healthy, durable and energy efficient as it can be.

  • Change or clean your air-handling filter.
  • Clean and inspect your ventilation system’s filters.
  • Clean exhaust fans and vents in bathrooms and kitchen.
  • Inspect all outside hoods for debris and blockage. These would include combustion air inlets, dryer exhaust vents, and ventilation inlet and exhaust vents.
  • Clean outside grill of air conditioner compressor.
  • Inspect grade around perimeter of home for a 5% slope; bring in fill for any areas that have settled.
  • Inspect and clean rain gutters.
  • Wash and repair window screens.
  • Change damper on central humidifier to "off" or "summer" position.
  • Clean or replace humidifier pad on central humidifiers.
  • Use a humidistat-controlled dehumidifier to monitor interior relative humidity (RH); keep below 50%.
